New Anti-Domestic Violence License Plates to Be Produced
Bedford, VA - Putting a new license plate on your car could help stop the cycle of Domestic Violence.
The General Assembly authorized production of the "Peace Begins at Home" license plate.
Proceeds from the sale of the plates will create the "Building Healthy Futures Fund," which will be used for prevention programs.
"What we have found in our community is that adolescents and dating violence is an issue that we are working very hard to address. We have a group right now that we conduct, for teenagers, but if we had additional funding we could run the group more because as we sit right now we continuously have a waiting list," said Leanne Dudley, program leader.
Bedford Domestic Violence Services has until June 30 to sell 100 pre-paid license plates to become a full shareholder in the fund.
For an application, call (540) 587-0970. The cost is $25, in addition to DMV registration fees.
