Neumann Eliminates LC 6-5 in NCAA Softball Regional

Salem - Lynchburg College broke out to a 4-0 lead the opening inning, but the Hornets couldn't hold on as Newmann University of Pennsylvania forced extra innings and won in 9, 6-5, in the NCAA Division 3 Softball Regional at the Moyer Complex in Salem.

Lynchburg took a 5-3 lead into the 6th, but the Knights scored two in the frame to tie the game and force extra innings.

Cassie Phillips had two hits, a run scored, and an RBI for the Hornets while allowing one earned run in three innings on the mound. The loss, LC's second straight in the regional, eliminates the Hornets.

Lynchburg (32-13) wraps up the season with its fourth trip to the NCAA Regionals and most wins since the 2009 campaign.
