Nelson County Man Charged With Leading Police On Chase
Nelson Co., VA - A Nelson County man in the middle of an 18-month drug investigation was arrested after police say he led them on a high speed chase. According to the Waynesboro Police Department, Kenneth Moore was the subject of a lengthy narcotics investigation.
Moore was believed to be involved in a methamphetamine ring in Nelson County, and the cities of Waynesboro and Charlottesville. Moore pulled over for police in a traffic stop on the 200 block of North Commerce Avenue in Waynesboro, but fled when officers approached his vehicle.
Police Moore took off across Afton Mountain on Route 250 East going nearly 80 MPH. Moments later, he lost control and flipped his car down an embankment.
Police say Moore, who was under the influence of methamphetamine, was unaffected by their taser and fled on foot. He was later arrested after he was tasered for a second time.
Police uncovered several firearms and $3,000 worth of crystal meth in his car. Moore's charges include felony eluding, possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, felony possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled substance and knowingly possessing a stolen firearm.
