Nathan Norman, Family Ready For 5K Fundraiser

Lynchburg, VA - This weekend runners across will hit Peaks View Park to raise awareness for pediatric cancer.

Before the race begins, ABC 13 caught up with the family behind the idea, the Normans, to check in with our friend Nathan.

In April, Nathan began a 26-month clinical trial at Duke University with monthly check-ups. He's been fighting both brain and spinal tumors for 5 years. His family says the cancer is stable."Nathan is such a trooper," said his mother Dawn Norman. "Whatever the doctors tell him to do, he does. If he has to swallow pills, if he has to have injections or whatever he needs to do he does."Nathan Norman tells us he'll be participating this weekend. "[It's important] for more kids to feel better and for pediatric cancer to go away," said Nathan Norman. The second annual Hope for Tomorrow 5K and Kids 1 Mile Run at Peaksview Park is on Saturday. The Kids Run starts at 8AM, while the 5K begins at 9AM. Registration is at 7AM.
