Charlotte, NC - Michael Waltrip says there's nothing new this season for his team and he's "happy about that." Clint Bowyer won three races in 2012 and finished second in the Chase and Mark Martin didn't win any races but won four poles.
"We saw improvement almost weekly as far as the speed of our cars, communication and even on a bad weekend that's when we really started to see big gains especially in the Chase. If we struggled in qualifying sometimes, we were able to correct it before the race," said Clint Bowyer
"Obviously where I am in my career, most drivers my age don't get a chance to drive cars that are contenders so I certainly appreciate the opportunity," Mark Martin said.
Martin Truex, Junior didn't win any races, either, but made the Chase and finished 11th.
"My goal is to get back in the Chase again and do better than we did last year and obviously get back to victory lane. I'm tired of talking about it. I'm tired of thinking about it. We were so close last year, we just need to catch a break," Truex, Jr. said.
As of now, Brian Vickers will drive in nine races in the 55 car and being one of the younger guys, he's learned a lot from Martin.
"He loves being Mark's partner. Brian is truly a great race car driver, and if we could have him full-time in 2014 we certainly would like that," said Michael Waltrip.
