Motorcycle Driver Charged After High Speed Chase, Crash in Bedford Co.
Bedford Co., VA - A motorcycle driver accused of leading a Bedford County deputy on a chase that ended in a crash has been charged.
Alexander Turner, 23, is charged with felony eluding a police officer and driving with a revoked license.
Friday night at about 7 p.m., officials say a deputy on Route 460 in the Thaxton area tried to stop Turner. They say he was going 78 miles an hour, traveling east on 460 west. During the chase, Turner sped up at speeds reaching over 100 miles per hour.
Turner then crashed his motorcycle when trying to turn onto East Main Street, according to the Sheriff's Office. He was airlifted to Roanoke Memorial Hospital and was released Sunday.
