More Holiday Fatalities on the Road Than Last Year

Richmond, VA - Early numbers show 13 people were killed on Virginia's highways during the five day Thanksgiving holiday weekend. None of the fatalities were in our area.

This is a slight increase compared to the previous two years. Last year, 11 people were killed in crashes on Virginia roads. 10 died in 2010.

During the holiday weekend, Virginia State Police increased the number of troopers statewide as a participant in Operation Combined Accident Reduction Effort or C.A.R.E.
