More Bed Bug Cases in Southside, How to Prevent Contracting Them

Danville, VA -- Four Seasons Pest Control in Danville says they've seen more bed bug cases this month than they've seen in the past 15 years they've been in business.

Experts say you are most likely to contract bed bugs from a hotel. So when you are traveling, make sure you do not put your luggage on the bed at first. Check under the sheets of the bed, specifically in the corners or edges of the mattress.
You are looking for tiny specks of blood, which is what they feed on, and look closely for the bugs themselves.
If you do contract bed bugs, they can spread quickly to your home. Once they are in your home, experts say the best thing to do is not move anything around and call professionals. Likely you can tell if you have them because they cause itchy red bites on your skin.
"They're called bed bugs because that's where most people get bit and that's where it is happening is around the bed. But they get in everything," said Tim Wolfe, Technical Supervisor at Four Seasons Pest Control.
Experts suspect they are just now hitting Danville because they have traveled from bigger cities now to smaller places.
