Moneta Ministry Outgrows Space, Moving to Meet Need
Moneta, VA - A ministry in Moneta is lending a helping hand to hundreds of families. Now, demand for their services has grown so much, they need more space to keep going. They have their eyes set on a building that's in need of renovations.
The center needs $10,000 to reach their $50,000. This will allow them to renovate, and move into an old dress factory in Moneta, and help even more people.
At 'The Agape Center' the act of helping your fellow man rarely slows down.
"It can get very busy. There are times when we open the door, and there are 10 or more families in line waiting," said Sue Lipscomb, Executive Director of 'The Agape Center.'
Families like Ashley Curtis and her son Lane who come seeing assistance.
"It's a huge help. They provide a lot of food, clothing for my son," said Curtis.
She comes here once a month for much-needed help out, and comfort from mentors.
"Coming here, talking to someone about my issues, it's a big weight lifted off my shoulders," said Curtis.
She is one of 400 families that come here. The growing need has led to more donations, and even more volunteers. But that has made for some tight quarters at 'The Agape Center'. Now on 'Promise Land Road,' 'The Agape Center' is hoping to grow even more.
"We will be able to grow in numbers. In addition, we hope to have some new ministries," said Lipscomb.
And like their name says, keep going in the busy work of helping their fellow man.
"Agape is unconditional love. It's the kind of love God had for us and that's what we like to express here at 'Agape," said Lipscomb.
In the new location, they plan to add more mentoring rooms, a gift shop, and a team room. And, they are hoping to get the money to complete the renovations by Thanksgiving.
