Lynchburg, VA - The beloved cat that went missing from the Old City Cemetery in Lynchburg has found a new home.

The cat known as Tellie to many at the Old City cemetery went missing about a week and a half ago. Officials at the Old City Cemetery{}say someone found the cat wandering near Jefferson Street, and took it in. The person gave the cat to an elderly couple in Madison Heights whose cat just recently died.

Tellie's{}new owners have renamed her Nellie, and they are thrilled to have her.

"It meant a lot to know that Telllie is giving{}comfort to this couple like she did for the people here at the cemetery{}so it's like it was meant to be. It was meant to be for her to be there," said Dawn Wise, Public Relations for the Old City Cemetery.

And, officials say they've received dozens of happy responses from their visitors who are relieved the cat is ok.
