Roanoke, VA - The Mill Mountain Zoo is working on new ways to raise cash with music.
In addition to the annual "Zoo Doo", scheduled for next week, the zoo has added a bi-monthly music series on Sunday's, and a fall blues festival.
"Music on the Mountain" usually has a great backdrop over the Roanoke Valley, at least on days with fair weather.
The zoo's marketing staff says rain keeps customers away. They say it's so important to come out and support the zoo.
"Roanoke is so lucky to have a mountain in the middle of the city and then have a mountain people can actually come up to and enjoy with different things. We have the star, we have the park, we have the zoo so there's something for all ages up here," said Sara Brooks, marketing director for the zoo.
"Music on the Mountain" does have a cash bar and food but is open to all ages as long as a guardian over 21 is present.
