Roanoke, VA - A new classroom has been created on the top of Mill Mountain as a gift from the Mill Mountain Garden Club.

The Mill Mountain Park Outdoor classroom is located in the wildflower garden and features a classroom-style setting that fits in with the surrounding nature.

Workers at the Discovery Center say the addition of this space will enhance the educational experience for hundreds of students who visit every year.

"Until now we have not had a formal outdoor teaching area. All of our programs we try to get people outside and now to have a formal sit down area that has a beautiful setting, beautiful background will be greatly beneficial for our programs," said Christine Elder who manages the Discovery Center.

The Discovery Center offers environmental lessons to public and private groups. The classroom was dedicated last week.
