Maryland Beats Virginia Tech 60-55

Blacksburg - The nation's leading scorer Erick Green racked up 29 points, but the Hokies fell short at home against Maryland, losing to the Terps 60-55.

After trailing by 11 midway of the first half, the Hokies charged back to grab a three-point lead at the half 27-24. But Maryland would pull out the road victory, Jake Layman scored 14 points to lead the way, Alex Len added 10 as the Terps improve to 17-and-6 overall, 5-and-5 in the ACC.

Cadarian Raines was the only other Hokie to hit double figures with 14. The Hokies (11-11, 2-7) got two free throws from Green with 9.6 seconds left to cut the lead to 58-55. But Seth Allen made one of two free throws with 8.3 seconds left to seal it for Maryland. Virginia Tech drops its fifth straight game, the Hokies host Georgia Tech Saturday at 1.
