Martinsville, VA - Fans are gearing up for the Martinsville Speedway race this weekend, but there's a lot to do before the 60,000 fans get there.
Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell says they actually started preparing for this weekend's race months ago!
But most of the action happens this week. They need to set up the haulers, prepare the grandstands, work on catering, get all of the media set up and much more!
All of that takes over 1000 people!
But Campbell says they've been doing this for years, so what seems chaotic is routine for them.
Campbell suspects that most fans have no idea how much goes on behind the scenes but he prefers it that way so their guests can just enjoy themselves.
"That's our job, that's what we do. We do it twice a year, we host a part for 60,000 of our closest friends and it takes a while to prep for it but it's not our first rodeo and hopefully everything goes pretty seamlessly," said Campbell.
Campbell says they can't fully breathe until about a week after the race is over, but they say all of this work is worth it.
