Martinsville Salvation Army Faces Financial Problems

Martinsville, VA - The Martinsville Salvation Army says if they cannot raise enough funds soon, they will have to cut services. Because of this, they have started a campaign to raise more than $50,000.

In January, an anonymous donor pledged to double the first $23,000 raised and then match the rest. That could mean a total of more than $130,000, but it has to be done by May 15th. So far they have only raised $2,000.

The money will go towards emergency utility assistance, rental assistance, and their feeding program.

"The money that is donated to us goes right back to the community. We do our best to serve the community in every aspect that we can and so all the donations that are donated to the Martinsville Match will be greatly appreciated," said Lt. Shauntrice Williams, Martinsville Salvation Army.

If you want to donate you can send money to P.O. Box 551, Martinsville, VA 24114 or go to
