Martinsville, VA - Martinsville Police Chief Mike Rogers' last day on the job was Wednesday.
Rogers has been with the department for over three decades, but says now is the time for him to move on.
Rogers will start tomorrow working for a local funeral home. He says he could have retired four years ago, but has stayed on because he enjoys the job so much.
Rogers says his biggest accomplishment is the quality officers he's hired at the department.
"I've had the pleasure of working with some really good dedicated young men and women who I respect as much as the people in our military," said Rogers.
Captain Ed Cassady will take over Thursday as interim Police Chief.
