Lexington, VA- Some people are not too happy about the removal of Confederate flags on Washington and Lee University's campus. So much so, many joined together for a rally Saturday morning
The decision to remove the Confederate flags from the chapel at the University came after a small student group known as "The Committee" called the flags "offensive." But many at the rally say those flags are a piece of history that should not be removed or forgotten.
Many gathered at Hopkins Green Park in downtown Lexington to show their support. Another issue bothering many: the University's decision to close the school chapel for the weekend in light of the rally. Folks say they just want the school to re-think their decision.
We reached out to Washington and Lee University. They say their position throughout this entire process has been to keep these issues within the campus community and not the media or public.
