Man Shot in Leg in Lynchburg

Lynchburg, VA - A Lynchburg man is recovering after being shot Saturday night. Lynchburg police say it happened just before 11 p.m. in the 1000 block of Cabell Street. There they found Shawn Hubbard, 29, with a single gunshot wound to his leg. He was transported to Lynchburg General with non life threatening injuries.

On 04-09-2011 at approximately 2251 hrs, Officers with the Lynchburg Police Department responded to the 1000 block of Cabell Street for a reported malicious wounding. Upon there arrival Officers found 29 yr old Shawn Hubbard, of Lynchburg, with a single gunshot wound to his leg. Hubbard was transported to the Lynchburg General Hospital's Emergency Department where he was treated for a non-life threatening injury.

The victim and witnesses stated that they observed an unknown black male walk down Cabell Street and approach Hubbard. They stated that the unknown black male produced a handgun and began to shoot at the victim. Several shots were fired with one bullet striking the victim in his leg. The unknown black male then fled the scene on foot and was last seen in the Willow Street area. The suspect was seen in Miles Market (Rivermont Avenue) prior to the shooting.

The suspect was described as: Dark skinned, medium build, approximately 5-11 to 6-00 tall, around 25 yrs old, wearing a gray hooded sweat shirt jacket and blue jeans.
