Man Gets One Year Jail Sentence for Bedford Co. Nativity Theft
Bedford Co., VA - The Bedford County man accused of stealing a nativity scene from a Forest church last December will spend one year in jail for the crime.
Scott Cooley, 20, pleaded guilty Tuesday to two misdemeanor charges of petit larceny and property damage. He was facing felony charges.
A judge sentenced him to 12 months in jail for each charge but suspended six months for each.
Cooley and two others were arrested for taking the Nativity scene from Shiloh United Methodist Church in Forest.
The other two men charged have not appeared in court yet.
