Man Faces Charges Following Roanoke Co. Standoff

Roanoke, Co., VA - Police say a man is facing multiple charges following his arrest early Tuesday morning.

Police were called to the home on Orlando Avenue about 1 p.m. Monday afternoon.

Investigators say Bill Long, 47, his wife and another man were inside the home when officers arrived.

Soon after, Long's wife and the other man were able to get out safely.

The standoff with Long lasted past midnight, and at one point, officers used gas grenades.

At about 12:45 a.m., officers say they were able to coax Long out of the home.

Long is charged with felony abduction and misdemeanor brandishing a firearm.
