Man Dies in Trailer Fire in Pittsylvania Co., Woman Taken to Hospital

Update 6 p.m.:

Pittsylvania Co., VA - Fire officials in Pittsylvania County say the fatal fire in the mobile home started in the living room Friday afternoon.

Officials say the woman ran out the back door and the man ran out the front door into a van when the fire started.

Neighbors tried to pull him from the van but were unable to.

A dog was also killed in the fire.

The cause is under investigation.


Pittsylvania Co., VA - Pittsylvania County fire officials say one person has died in a fire Friday afternoon.

The fire started at one of the homes in the Country Oakes Mobile Home Park at around 2 p.m.

Officials say there were two people inside the trailer when the fire started. A woman was taken to hospital, and there is no word on her condition.

Officials say they performed CPR on the man, but he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Six fire departments responded to the fire.

Neighbors say the residents have lived there for at least 10 years.
