Nelson Co., VA - A Nelson County man is facing multiple charges after investigators say he put a deputy's life in jeopardy.
Officials from the sheriff's office say authorities stopped a vehicle on High Peak Lane in Shipman on May 19 and a K-9 picked up on something.
They say when driver Joshua Painter, 26, was asked to get out, he started the car and tried to drive off. A deputy reached into the car and tried to turn off the ignition as Painter drove off with the deputy hanging from the window. After later hitting a tree, investigators say that deputy was able to take control.
Officials say authorities seized meth and other drug items from the vehicle.
Painter is facing multiple charges including attempted capital murder of a police officer.
