Man Arrested and Charged after Shots Fired Call

Roanoke, VA - A SWAT team was called in after police received a "shots fired" call during a domestic dispute Friday afternoon.

Police say 35-year-old John Joseph Spencer Moss was arrested at a different location in Roanoke and charged with shooting into an occupied vehicle.

No one was hurt during the initial shooting at the 2500 block of Medmont Circle - police say the woman involved was able to escape to a neighbor's home.

Lieutenant Mac Babb says "apparently as they were arriving on scene the suspect retreated back into the house and the victim was able to get into a house across the street where officers were able to find her."

Negotiators were able to get Moss on the phone and that's when they realized he was not inside the home.

They arrested him without incident after he told them he had walked to the 7500 block of Williamson Road.

During the situation police told residents in nearby neighborhoods to stay inside their homes.

Also, Lewis-Gale Hospital went into lock down for about 30minutes.
