Delegate Garrett to Introduce Legislation to Ban 'Spice'

Lynchburg, VA - A Virginia legislator will introduce legislation to ban K2 in this legislative session.

K2, also called Spice, is a type of potpourri. When lit and smoked, K2 gives a high. The active ingredient in K2 is a synthetic version of the active ingredient in marijuana. Legislators say it's colorless, odorless and is put in legal herbs to smoke.

The real concern for a legislator and M.D. is what it could do to your health.

"This has multiple ill health side effects as well. Anywhere from nausea and vomiting side effects to as severe as paranoia, agitation and even seizure disorders," said Delegate Scott Garrett.

Legislators say they need to put a spotlight on K2 so parents are tuned in to what their kids may be doing.
