Major Roads Fair in Roanoke, Secondary Roads Still Slick
Roanoke Co, VA - Major roadways in the Roanoke Valley were looking pretty good overall with all the primary roads in fair condition. Secondary roads were a bit treacherous Friday Evening.
There was more snow Friday just to the west, in Montgomery County. On the campus of Virginia Tech, it only took a few hours for several inches of snow to accumulate.
At this point, the snow had been falling just a couple of hours and already there were several inches of accumulation.
There were several accidents on I-81 as well Friday.
People traveling through the storm had their own ideas as to how to handle the weather if you have to get out.
"Take it easy. Don't touch your breaks. Don't do anything silly. Don't accelerate too quickly. Don't change direction too rapidly. It's just taking it easy," said Jack Beck.
At the Roanoke Civic Center, the Zac Brown Band is still scheduled to take the stage Friday evening. Parts of downtown Roanoke are still open Friday Night, despite the weather.
The Roanoke Civic Center now pre-sells parking at the Civic Center itself during big shows like the Zac Brown Band. Friday Night's parking is sold out, so if you haven't bought a pass yet, you'll need to pick up the shuttle at the parking garage at the corner of Franklin and Williamson Road.
