Lynchburg's Color Run Raises Money for Children's Miracle Network

Lynchburg, VA - It was a beautiful day for Lynchburg's first ever Color Run Saturday. Life 4 U, a student group from Liberty University, hosted the event at Peaks View Park.

The group works to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network. The 5K had different color stations set up so runners were doused with powdered color as they went through the course.

At the end, there was a big celebration with entertainment.

Life 4 U Founder and President Ross Cleveland III says proceeds from the color run will be used for equipment to airlift premature babies and kids to Lynchburg's hospital.

He says 500 people signed up, and the race was sold out at the beginning of the week.

"I just want to say thank you to the community, thank you to Liberty students and thank you for just everybody who came out to support just such a great cause. That's what this is all about--it's for the kids," said Cleveland.

Organizers say they raised $10,000 from the color run, and they hope to do it again next year at a bigger venue.
