Lynchburg, VA - The Jamerson YMCA in Lynchburg wants kids and parents making healthy lifestyle choices. Saturday is the Y's annual Healthy Kids Day. YMCAs across the country are taking part.
The day starts with a Fun Run at 8 AM, followed by healthy activities the rest of the morning. The program promotes healthy choices like family meals together, drinking water and eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, all while having a little fun too.
They'll have an inflatable kids jump and face painting, but organizers say the new interactive arcade is the coolest part.
"So we have one side that has bikes with video game screens that they have to pedal. We have a treadwall that rotates while they are on it. We have punch bags, dance-dance revolution - all that sort of thing," said Jennifer Keaton, Program Coordinator.
Saturday's Healthy Kids Day is free and open to non-members too.
