Lynchburg - Sophomore forward Lauren Penley scored 17 of her career-high 22 points in the second half Thursday night as Lynchburg College beat visiting Washington & Lee 56-47.
The Hornets raced to a 21-8 lead in the opening 12 minutes before the Generals rallied. W&L cut the lead to just three before intermission and the game stayed tight in the second half most of the way.
Penley added seven rebounds and a pair of blocked shots while Shannon Allan filled up the stat sheet for LC with 15 points, 12 rebounds, four assists, four steals and two blocks.
Freshman Wesleigh Vick paced the Generals (8-13) with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Rachel Warrick had 10 points and Annie Gauf tallied nine points and seven rebounds.
The Hornets (14-8) travel to Emory & Henry Saturday for a 2 o'clock game.
