Lynchburg, VA - A young woman from Lynchburg is raising awareness for those with disabilities.
Kanika Davis will be participating in the Miss Wheelchair Virginia competition. The competition will take place on March 15 at the Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville.
It started when she began to raise funds for the $400 application fee in October.
Davis' next project is to prepare a display table for the competition. Her table will focus on advocating accessible means of traveling for those with disabilities. She gets her inspiration from her love to travel.
"Persons with disabilities can, you know, live beyond their limitations, they can enjoy life and engage in the same pleasures as anyone else that may not have a disability, " said Davis.
A title-holder will be chosen at the competition in March, and the winner will go on to a national competition. If you would like more information, you can visit www.mswheelchairva.com
