Lynchburg Voters Hear Candidates' Views During Forum
Lynchburg, VA - Tuesday night, the Lynchburg Voters League announced their endorsements for various state and local elections.
At a candidate's forum, candidates and representatives in nearly ten different races spoke to voters. The league later announced their support for 22nd District Delegate Candidate Katie Webb Cyphert, Ralph Northam for Lieutenant Governor, and Terry McAuliffe for Governor.
Locally they threw support behind Incumbents Ron Gillispie for Lynchburg Sheriff, and Mike Doucette for Commonwealth's Attorney.
Each candidate or representative was given five minutes to share their plans if elected, to a crowd of more than 100 people.
The speakers saw it as a prime opportunity to speak directly to voters, "They are going to leave here and go back into all areas of the city and they'll be able to tell other people the sheriff's office does this, the sheriff's office does that" said Mark Lacey, who was representing Gillispie for Sheriff.
"I really appreciate them having these forums. I think it gives us an opportunity to go out and see what people say about the various issues that impact us on a daily basis" said Katie Webb Cyphert, the Democratic Candidate for the 22nd House of Delegates seat.
