Lynchburg, VA - Some parents groups say the state is pressuring them to move their relatives out of the state's mental health training centers.
Martha Bryant, a parent representing Lynchburg's Central Virginia Training Center (CVTC) families sent ABC 13 the letter they sent to Governor McDonnell Tuesday.
The parents are asking the governor to stop the efforts to "coerce" families into accepting outside placements for their family members. They've also started an online petition asking the governor to stop the arbitrary closure dates.
As of Wednesday morning, around 1,100 have signed it the petition.
The governor's office is reviewing their concerns.
