Lynchburg, VA - Lynchburg's superintendent got a top honor from Governor McDonnell's administration recently.
Dr. Scott Brabrand's been appointed to the Governor's School Safety Task Force, which McDonnell created in light of the shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. Brabrand is one of only two superintendents selected.
He hopes to talk about everything from SROs to cameras and door locks at schools. Most of all, though, he hopes this task force creates a common safety standard for Virginia schools.
"We can't have one standard for safety in one part of Virginia and another standard for safety in another part of Virginia. We need a consistent, universal standard for safety across the commonwealth," said Dr. Brabrand.
The task force is expected to give its initial ideas to the governor in the next several weeks during this General Assembly session.
