Lynchburg Road Caves In, Gas Line Plugged

Lynchburg, VA - Columbia Gas crews are on the scene of a road that caved in Thursday afternoon in the downtown area.

Construction crew tells ABC 13 the incident happened around lunch time at the intersection of Clay and 6th Streets in Lynchburg's downtown.

Crews were installing water lines and digging in to 6th street when the road buckled. The equipment fell in to the hole too.

Workers say there was a construction worker in the equipment at the time, but he is alright.

The Lynchburg Fire Department plugged a nearby gas line crews say got hit when the road caved in.
