Lynchburg Police Officers Promoted

Lynchburg, VA - Thirteen Lynchburg Police Officers moved up the ranks Friday. Lynchburg police chief Parks Snead announced the officers' promotion to the rank of master police officer during a promotion ceremony.

Families of the officers pinned on the new rank insignia.

The chief says each officer with this new rank will supervise about 10 people in the department.

"I've been 29-years at the Lynchburg Police Department. This is the first time the LPD has developed an entirely new rank, so we're quite excited," said Chief Parks Snead.

Chief Snead says 18 policemen will get the master rank in all.
