Lynchburg Police Hold Third Teacher's Police Academy

Lynchburg, VA - The Lynchburg Police Department held a class for the LPD Teacher's Police Academy Saturday.

This is the third time they've done the eight-week course exclusively for teachers. It shows them what police go through on a daily basis.

More than a dozen teachers and school administrators were at the LPD firing range. They learned about tactical operations and the firearms training officers go through.

Leaders from different units lead the sessions. That includes the K-9 unit, crime prevention unit, and criminal investigations.

If you're interested in attending, there will be another session for the academy in September. That's free and open to the public.
