Lynchburg Police Captain Retires

Lynchburg, VA - A Lynchburg Police Captain is retiring after 25 years of service.

Captain Bill Dance worked his last day Friday with the LPD.

Dance started in 1988 and served much of his career in the Criminal Investigations Division. He was promoted to lieutenant in 2003 and again to captain in 2006.

Dance was awarded the Purple Heart in 1991 after being stabbed in the line of duty. He also won the Meritorious Service Award for his work as a narcotics detective.
