Lynchburg Officer Graduates from FBI National Academy

Lynchburg, VA - A Lynchburg police officer has a prestigious accomplishment to add to his resume.

Lieutenant Stuart Bowen graduated from the FBI National Academy last week. He says one in 100,000 officers get the opportunity. They're nominated by their peers and eventually selected to attend the 10 week course in Quantico on leadership.

The physical challenge, nicknamed the 'Yellow Brick Road' was featured in the movie Silence of the Lambs. Bowen completed the grueling six mile obstacle course, which he spent weeks training for.

"I was determined. I knew other officers here several command staff officers that have gone through it, so I had a pretty good idea of what I was going to be doing, I did some training beforehand to get myself prepared for it," said Bowen.

Bowen says he plans to implement some of the policies with the Lynchburg Police Department, including how much personal information officers should share on social media to protect themselves and the department.
