Lynchburg, VA - Tourism is a big part of Virginia's economy, and Wednesday, the locals who make Lynchburg look good got honored themselves.
It was the third annual Lynchburg Hospitality Star Awards. The luncheon honors the best workers in our area's hotels, restaurants, and local attractions as well as the clerks and workers who make these places run.
A leader in Virginia tourism says it's the workers who are essential to the visitor's experience.
"The people on the front line really do provide that welcoming atmosphere, that attitude that we love the fact that you're here, we want you to have an exceptional visit during your experience, but also come back for more," said Rita McClenny, CEO of VA Tourism.
McClenny says tourism is fun, but it's also about economic vitality here at home.
