Lynchburg, VA - The downtown branch of the Lynchburg library is back to normal business. Starting Monday, the library will be open five days a week.
The branch has been operating on a 20 hour a week schedule since February. The hours were cut due to staff shortages in the main library, and the funding was just approved to hire a replacement.
Librarians say the change in hours did cause some confusion downtown.
"We were not open on Fridays and when I would work over at the main library we would get comments like 'Oh I went downtown first.' It was hard to keep the hours straight, you know, with part-time hours. Whereas, now it's an easy thing. We're open all-day every day," said librarian Marilyn Martin.
The downtown branch is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.
