Lynchburg Jefferson Outlasts Colonial 19-11
Lynchburg - The Lynchburg Jefferson All-Stars erupted for nine runs in the first extra inning and beat Lynchburg Colonial 19-11 in the District Two Little League Championship Game for 11-and-12-year-olds. With the win, Lynchburg Jefferson advances to the Little League State Tournament that begins Friday, July 19 in Lynchburg.
Tied at 4 top of the 4th, Reese Evans belts a three-run homer to right, part of a 5-run inning as Jefferson built a 9-4 lead.Colonial answered right back in the bottom of the inning, Powers Muller singled to right driving in two, Colonial matched Jefferson's five runs in the top of the frame, 9-9 after four.Sixth inning, Trevel (Tre-VELL) Alexander lined a single to right scoring Daniel O'Brien and Jefferson retook the lead 10-9.
Down to their last at-bat, Colonial again bounced back, Jack Brestel's shot got through at first, plating a run and forcing extra innings.
Jefferson then racked up nine runs in the seventh and this time Colonial could not match it. Lynchburg Jefferson will represent the Hill City in the Little League State Tournament.
