Lynchburg, VA - Insurance adjusters from the Lynchburg area are responding to regions that were hit hard by Hurricane Sandy.
A Nationwide spokesman says the company's catastrophe team has mobilized about 150 workers in areas with significant damage. The team is waiting for authorities to give the go-ahead to enter those areas.
"We've only had about 2,000 claims across the country", said Dan Petriskie with Nationwide. "We think that's primarily because a lot of people have not been able to get access to their homes yet. Once the authorities allow them to go back in, we certainly anticipate that number to grow quite substantially."
Nationwide is pulling employees who don't usually take claims off their regular jobs and having them answer phones to reduce call wait times.
