Lynchburg, VA - The Lynchburg Humane Society kicked off their Summer of one-thousand Lives Campaign Sunday. All adoptions were absolutely free. The Humane Society says there was a line of people when they opened their doors this morning and they've been busy all day. Kids got to play in a bounce house and were entertained by Balloon Dude Travis. By mid-afternoon, 35 pets had been adopted. The Humane Society says they had a goal of 50 adoptions Sunday and are so thankful the community came out to support them. "Not to discourage anybody we have more animals coming in every day and we're moving a lot more onto the floor because of adoptions and it's been amazing," said Executive Director Makena Yarbrough. All summer, the Humane Society will have special events like free adoptions or name your own price. They'd like to see one thousand pets come through their doors and into new homes this summer.
