Lynchburg Group Selling Art for Homeless

Lynchburg, VA - A Lynchburg group selling artwork to raise money for the homeless is getting ready for one of its biggest fundraisers so far.

WarmStreets, a nonprofit organization, is holding a bidding party Saturday from 3 p.m. - 4 p.m.

The group's founder says WarmStreets is the first permanent art gallery dedicated to the homeless in the entire state.

They will auction off the 14 most valuable pieces of artwork and donate all the money to the Daily Bread and Hand Up Lodge.

"There are about 400 homeless people in this area. So, we're thinking it's gonna probably touch most of them," Rick Hughes said from their new gallery.

Most of the art is donated from local artists.

Saturday's auction is being held in the Reading Room at RiverViews ArtSpace.
