Lynchburg, VA - It's the 60th year of a partnership to help raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
On Thursday, Lynchburg firefighters held their Fill the Boot campaign to help those affected by the muscle disease.
At Fire Station 7 on Lakeside Drive, the MDA recognized the fire chief and his department.
In Lynchburg alone, $80,000 has been collected for the cause in just the last three years.
"It is going to save lives, it is going to send kids to summer camp, it is paying for clinic visits, and cures are on the horizon," said Diane Boardman, the MDA executive director.
Hundreds of members of the Lynchburg Fire Department will fan out across the city for this year's drive which runs from August 24 through September 1.
They will be at all the area Kroger stores, Walmart, Boonsboro Shopping Center, Lakeside Crossing Shopping Center, La Caretta Mexican Restaurant and all eight fire stations.
