Lynchburg Fire Officials Investigating Cause of House Fire
Lynchburg, VA - Lynchburg fire officials are investigating a fire that nearly destroyed a home in Lynchburg early Saturday morning.
Battalion Chief Greg Wormser says they got the call around 5:30 a.m. to a house on 909 Old Trents Ferry Road off Boonsboro Road.
He says when crews got there, a huge fire was blowing out of the roof in the center of the house. It took crews about 25 minutes to get the flames under control due to the size of the fire.
Nobody was in the house at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries.
Houses in the area had lost power Friday night during a thunderstorm, so the residents were not staying at the home when the fire started.
Wormser says the fire started in the attic, but officials don't know the cause.
Crews do not know yet if the home is a total loss, but they say there is significant damage inside and on the roof of the home.
The Lynchburg Fire Marshal is investigating.
