Lynchburg Eliminated from Little League State Tournament

      LYNCHBURG - Lynchburg Jefferson lost to Tuckahoe 14-0 in the quarterfinals of the 11-12 year old Little League State Tournament on Monday morning at Miller Park.

      Tuckahoe from the suburbs of Richmond, has now outscored its four opponents 63-0 so far in the tournament.

      Lynchburg head coach Chad Evans said, "It's the first time a Lynchburg team has advanced to the quarterfinals in more than ten years."

      Lynchburg went 2-1 in pool playing, overcoming a 9-6 deficit in the final inning against Bristol to win 10-9.

      Overall they finished 2-2 in the state tournament after going 4-1 in the district tournament.

      In another quarterfinal game Fairfax beat Bridgewater 11-10 so Fairfax will play Tuckahoe Tuesday at 10 a.m. on Bradford Field.

      Great Falls defeated Virginia Beach 10-3.

      West Springfield topped York County 14-2.

      Great Falls faces West Springfield at 1 p.m. in the semifinals on Tuesday.

      Wednesday's championship game is at 10 a.m.
