Lynchburg Dog Park Working Toward Phase Two
Lynchburg, VA - Lynchburg's new dog park has been a big hit so far, but they're still trying to raise more money to make it more than just a fenced in yard.
You can help this weekend, at the "Paws in the Pool" fundraiser at Miller Park pool, where you can take your dog for a swim.
The group "Friends of the Lynchburg Dog Park" is still raising funds to move the park beyond the basic fenced in yard it is now.
The biggest expense comes from bringing a waterline into the park, and making it more handicap accessible. But it also needs things like benches, landscaping, and shade.
"We have raised about $40,000, which was enough to open the bare bones dog park that we have right now. We still have about $80,000 to raise towards phase 2 to put in the additional amenities and features," said Niro Rasanayagam, with Friends of the Lynchburg Dog Park.
Paws in the Pool is $15 for dogs and $10 for their owners. It's Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.
You do need to bring proof your dog has had its rabies shots. Get more information here.
The group is also selling memorial bricks for the wall, and the deadline is September 15. Get more information here.
