Lynchburg, VA - A Lynchburg couple delivered the first baby of 2014 in our region.Noelle Gray Wooldridge arrived at 1:20 a.m. at Virginia Baptist Hospital.
Weighing in at six pounds and 15 ounces, she's a healthy, happy baby girl.
"Everybody in the whole world's gonna be counting down to her birthday from now on," said her mother, Jordan Wooldridge.
Jordan and Jeremy Wooldridge hadn't planned on having the first baby of the New Year. Noelle was actually three days late, but once she made her mind up, she wasn't waiting around.
"The labor and delivery went so fast. We were admitted at 11 o'clock and had her at 1:20!" Jordan added.
Doctors and nurses at Centra Virginia Baptist Hospital helped with the delivery.
Noelle beat out babies at Lewis Gale Medical Center, Carilion Roanoke Memorial and Danville Regional Medical Center, to become the first baby of 2014.
"We were just hoping for a healthy delivery and labor. And then next thing you know the midwife comes in. She's like, 'Well congratulations! Ya'll had the first baby of the New Year. And I was like, 'Okay,'" recalled Jeremy Wooldridge.
Gifts from the community have been pouring in: a gift certificate to a salon for mom, Mary Kay cosmetics and a membership to the Romp 'n Roll gym.
"God has blessed me with two healthy children. And it's just an amazing feeling and I feel so lucky to be able to be their mom," added Jordan.
