Lynchburg Couple Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide

UPDATE: 6:09 p.m.

Lynchburg, VA - The medical examiner has ruled a shooting at the Terrace Brooke Apartments in Lynchburg is a murder suicide.

Around 9:30 Monday morning, Lynchburg police discovered the bodies of Stacy Ritchie and Clyde Wrenn inside a townhouse on Broadway Street.

The medical examiner performed an autopsy and determined Wrenn shot Ritchie before shooting himself.

Police say the couple had been dating off and on for several years. It's not clear whether they have a history of domestic violence.

Police say on the morning their bodies were discovered, Wrenn was supposed to be checking into rehab.

According to search warrants, police found the couple's bodies on the floor of a bedroom, both had gunshot wounds to the head, both declared dead on the scene.

A family member told police they came to the home Monday morning to take Wrenn to rehab for depression and alcohol when they discovered the two bodies.

Police say it's not clear what motivated this shooting. But after interviewing neighbors, family members and an autopsy, they're confident Wrenn was the one who pulled the trigger.
