Lynchburg, VA - Gleaning for the World was at it again Saturday, collecting food to help feed our community.
Liberty University's Snowflex partnered with the organization and held a grand-opening for their new snow tubing lanes.
It was not only a fun family day, but a time to help those in need. People brought canned food to Gleaning for the World to get in, with the food going to local food banks.
For most, Saturday was not just about having fun, It was about helping those in need.
"It's great, we get to give back to the community and then our kids come up here and have a great time," said Melissa Haygood, who donated food and brought her kids to play.
There was a great turnout. Lots of people filled trucks with canned goods. The food will go to local food banks and help feed those in our community.
"The community's really come out in support for what we're doing here at Gleaning," said Michael Justice of Gleaning for the World.
The new lanes are located next to the ski slopes and they are fast. The smaller slope reaches speeds of up to 35 miles per hour, and the larger, 45 miles per hour.
No matter how you slice or dice it, everyone was pleased with the end result.
"It's a give, give situation; but it's a win-win situation as well, " said Justice.
